Assignment 18: Low Light photos
Using low light conditions in the darkroom (that I will set up), take a photo of a person or a still life. Use the manual settings to get enough light in your photo, instead of turning on additional lights. You can use a slower shutter speed, a wider aperture, and change the film speed (ISO settings).
1. If your entire photo is blurred or shows camera shake, don't submit it like that - reshoot it. Use a tripod if you need one.
2. If your entire picture is way too dark or too light, don't submit it - experiment with adjusting the shutter speed, the film speed, or the exposure settings to control the amount of light.
3. Always think about composition. Is there background clutter that is distracting? Do you have colors that work well together? Are there leading lines, is there a sense of rhythm, or are you using the rule of thirds?
Grading rubric: 4 points total
2 - lighting (not overexposed - too light, or underexposed - too dark).
1 - focus
1 - composition (color, form, lines, attention to background)
