Assignment 15: Flash animation with a working button
Using Flash, create a short animation with a button symbol. Include an Up, Over, and Down state. Please do something interesting to wow and amaze me - something that makes me cry with joy at your creativity, talent, and sensitivity.
A reminder about the steps:
1. Create your basic image that will be a symbol. This can be from a photo or graphic that you design in photoshop and import to the stage or vector graphics made in flash. Let's think like artists here.
2. Right click on the image and convert it to a "button" symbol. You'll know it's converted to a button when you see a thin blue outline around it.
3. Double click on the symbol to edit it. Now you should see a place to enter keyframes for an up state (when it's just sitting on the screen), an over state (when the mouse is hovering over it) and a down state, when you click on it. Don't worry about the hit state for now.
4. You can go back to Scene 1 to finish making your movie when you are done editing your symbol. (Click on scene 1 above the timeline.)
5. Because this will be an interactive flash file, not just a movie, we will not be saving them as windows avi files to youtube - youtube won't let us click on flash files to make events happen. Instead, go to file --> export --> export movie. Make the file type a flash movie (*.swf) and save the file. Zshare.net provides free hosting for swf files.
You will need to:
1. Make sure the animation undergoes some sort of change in each state.
2. Have an identifiable consistent style.
3. Design this as an art project.
To insert your flash file here in the forum, click the insert flash button (the red F). Paste the URL into the blank line that appears in the popup window.
Objectives:
Beginning to create interactive flash files.
Grading rubric:
6 points.
2 - Making the animation work.
2 - Creative concept. Someone who has a brief storyline will receive a higher grade than someone who just makes a ball bounce.
2 - Artistic skill.
Please note - just making the file work is only a third of your grade - not enough to pass this assignment. The creative merit and artistic skill is most of the grade.
