Assignment 5: Concept for video on Technology

Each team will agree on and submit (as a reply to this thread) a description of their concept. Include the basic idea, and as much information as you have at this point.

"The theme for this year's contest is "Community of the Future." We want students to share their vision of how technology will shape their community in the future. For example, what might their community be like in the year 2050? How will people shop, travel, and communicate? Students are encouraged to interact with their local city council, mayor, city employees, community centers, and other groups to create their film. Grading: 2 points
1. How well the concept is described (pretend you are writing a grant proposal. How will you convince people to give you funds for your project? Sell it.)
2. Spelling and grammar. We will need the proposal to be presented well before we submit to the site.

Our group proposes a documentary based on technology extending the gap between upper and lower class in society. In our documentary we will further research and investigate the effect technology has on the class system and how it effects the way people view each other. We will set out to see if technology is as much of a determining point of wealth and class than pure financial benefits.

Our concept is life without technology. The basic idea is how the world would function without technology. We are going to interview adults, high school students, other people in the community (Detroit, Suburbs). We will interview these people on their daily usage of technology, their opinion of technology, their opinions on how technology will change over the years, and if technology wasn’t invented what would you do in your spare time, and a variety of other questions. We also will keep journals of our technology use. In our journal we will keep when we used technology and how long it was used.

We will also see if the invention of technology has changed people’s jobs for the better or for worse, like assembly line workers. We will try and see if the invention of technology has strengthened our country and the people in our community.

Our concept is life without technology. The basic idea is how the world would function without technology. We are going to interview adults, high school students, and other people in the community (Detroit, Suburbs). We will interview these people on their daily usage of technology, their opinion of technology, their opinions on how technology will change over the years, and if technology wasn’t invented what would you do in your spare time, and a variety of other questions. We are trying to interview store managers at Sony, Metro PCS, T-Mobile, Best Buy, and Circuit City etc.We also will keep journals of our technology use. In our journal we will keep when we used technology and how long it was used.

Our documentary will show views of how technology in the future will change or will there be any technology. We will ask how much more advancement will technology have in the future. Also what type of technology do they believe the world could go without? We would love to interview radio stations and local news station to see their view on technology and the effects it will have on our future.

We could also set up an interview with a business that use’s lots of technology like Comcast or maybe a big computer store around here that’s fixes computers because everyone uses a computer these days and computers are a big use of technology. Some questions I would ask them would, How would you be able to make money if you couldn’t use technology? And another is What kind of job would you get that gives almost as much money as your last job did and where would you get a job at that doesn’t use technology?

All technology would have upgraded by the year 2050. We will find better ways to cure the sick and help the people less fortunate, but it also will hurt the community. The upgrade of technology will increase unemployment. What do you need a person for if you have a machine that can work better and that’s programmed to do what the worker is suppose to do..

We also want to know how living without technology is going to affect our life. As a group we want to ask them how our community will act without technology in 2050. How would your life be with out cell phones, computer, and cars for a week?
