The painting is Salome holding the head of John the Baptist after his execution. it was painted by Andrea Solario. It was one of his earliest works. The image derives from the Gospel of Mark, When Salome, daughter of Herodias, has her wish granted, which was to see John executed. It is rare to see so little of the executioner in the Painting. His arm being the only thing shown is symbolic as the arm depicts the executioner as a "whole".

The painting is "Poppy Field, Argenteuil" by Claude Monet. He painted this in 1875. He was part of the impressionism movement, which was founded by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Camille Pissarro, who were apart of the Anonymous Society of Painters. Monet often painted landscapes.

My project will be on "the Scream" (or as some people refer as "the Cry")
It was painted Edvard Munch in 1893. Expressionism is used in "the Scream". It gives a strong feeling of unsettling fear, even if the people/scenery aren't very detailed. I really enjoy the painting itself.. and it will be really fun to see what I can do with it in photoshop XD

The painting is by C. M. Coolidige. He had many series/paintings of the dogs playing poker. This particular one is called Waterloo (originally titled Judge St. Bernard Wins on a Bluff). This painting was done in 1906 and was a part of the Tonalism art movement. Art in that time was usually very dark and used many neutral tones. C. M. Coolidige usually paints cartoons/dogs for commercial use. They are usually playing a game like pool or poker. This particular painting was used for a cigar ad and they're playing poker. The famous painting is very recognizable and is worth $500,000 today.

'Fugint de la crítica’ (Escaping Criticism) 1874

Pere Borrell del Caso, of Barcelona, Spain, was a lesser-known, yet stunning artist of the nineteenth-century, was realist artist, who lived from 1835-1910. His painting, Escaping criticism, is a trompe-l’oeil style piece, French for "deceives the eye", which involves painting the art so it looks like it is 3-D, as if trying to escape the painting and come into the living world. This work, in particular, depicts a young boy in tattered cloths climbing out of the frame, as to escape the confines of his two-dimensional home.

Title: Creation of Adam.
Artist: Michelangelo Buonarroti

The Creation of Adam is a fresco painting by Michelangelo, forming part of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted circa 1511–1512. It illustrates the Biblical creation narrative from the Book of Genesis in which God breathes life into Adam, the first man. The fresco is part of a complex iconographic scheme and is chronologically the fourth in the series of panels depicting episodes from Genesis. It is the most well-known of the Sistine Chapel fresco panels, and its fame as a piece of art is rivaled only by the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

The image of the near-touching hands of God and Adam has become iconic of humanity and has been reproduced in countless imitations and parodies. Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper and Michelangelo's Creation of Adam are the most replicated religious paintings of all time.

He painted peasant women out of doors with great popular success. He was awarded the silver medal and Cross of the Legion of Honor, Exposition Universelle, Paris, 1889, and was made a Knight of the Royal Order of St. Michael of Bavaria, Munich, 1893, and receiving the gold medal of honor from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, 1893. Japanese painting (絵画?, kaiga, also gadō 画道) is one of the oldest and most highly refined of the Japanese visual arts, encompassing a wide variety of genres and styles. As with the history of Japanese arts in general, the long history of Japanese painting exhibits synthesis and competition between native Japanese aesthetics and the adaptation of imported ideas, mainly from Chinese painting which was especially influential at a number of points.

This is "Cypresses with Two Female Figures" by Vincent Van Gogh. This was painted in 1889, and was one of the last paintings Van Gogh did. It was one of the paintings that helped him master the technique of his most famous painting, "The Starry Night". Van Gogh was mostly famous for painting landscapes and still-life.

Picasso painted "Blue Nude" after his good friend committed suicide in 1902. Picasso was in great morn so he painted a morning painting of a nude women containing herself in a corner. He started to use blues and greens more often in his later painting. Blue Nude shows the despair and sorrow Picasso was experiencing.

Sorrowing Old Man ('At Eternity's Gate') is an oil painting by Vincent van Gogh [2] that he made in 1890 in Saint-Rémy de Provence based on an early lithograph.[3] The painting was completed in early May at a time when he was convalescing from a severe relapse in his health and some two months before his death, generally accepted as a suicide.[4]

The movement was popular during the nineteen thirties. Artists using Regionalism despised city life, and rapidly developing technological advances, captivating views of rural life instead.
