3: End of week review: 9/19

Post  Admin on Fri Sep 19, 2014 8:23 am

Studio Work

1. Upload new work. If it's photoshop work, upload it as a jpg, not a psd. If it's a movie file or animation, export and upload it in a compressed format (don't give me a file that requires me to open it in adobe premiere or final cut). You can upload to youtube and link it here.

Reflecting:

2. Self-critique: What is working well in this week's work? What would you like to improve, or develop further?

3. Identify new skills you worked on during the week. (For example, I know one student learned to rotate brushes in photoshop.)

Looking forward:

4. Identify at least one new skill will you work on/develop next week.

4th hour reflection:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osHYixhbmUo

2. The project has looks different and the animation is OK for the first time But I think it could be a little smoother.

3. I learned more about After Effects and the effects it has (Though I'm still not sure this is exactly what you're suppose to do with After Effects). I Also messed around in Premier a little but not thoroughly

4. I would like to get more in dept with Premier and learn how to function with it better and also learn exactly if what I'm doing with After effects is even the right thing I'm supposed to be doing with it.

I feel like what worked well in this weeks art was the color put into what i did mixed with the abstract like effect on a some of the pieces. i feel like the quality does vary a bit in my work you can tell when a piece was made from inspiration and not boredom which is something i want to change as soon as possible i learned different uses using the fill and content aware effect on a image which saves alot of time when working i would like to learn more effects and making things more seamless

I created this fairly simple motion graphic using a still image of Jake playing the banjo at an assembly. While I'm not completely satisfied with how this came out, my final hope would be to use it as a template for announcements on the TV in the hall.
I learned how to use the puppet tool in After Effects much more sufficiently this week.
Next week, I'd like to learn more about bringing still images to life in After Effects.

6th Hour Reflection:

2. I think the blending of the images is good but could be better and could be done more efficiently.
3. I focused a bit on blending of images and using the different blend effects on images (Blending of two different images to create a tint or the same image)
4. I would like to get more in depth with different brushes in Photoshop and how to use them in projects.

1)

600/400

400/200

400/200

The Popcorn was a test one and the Wave was for messing with lighting and effects. The animation seen in the eye was accomplished by going frame by frame, it, due to this tedious process, is taking a while.

2) This week I learned the useful lesson of making GIFS, and branched out into animation. I would like to learn more about the altering of levels and balances when working with a GIF due the the fact I could only accomplish this on one piece, "Wave." Other than that I feel quite good about this week's work.

3) the skill of GIF making/animation is seen almost constantly on the internet, and though I find it a bit redundant/tedious, it is fun none the less, I would like to continue working on my eye opening closing GIF; I only had the time to add human shading to a few frames and would like to finish. For one thing I learned outside the weekly assignment, that you can turn on and off multiple layers at once. That will save so much time in the future!

4) Next week I would like to upload some GIFS to the internet and upload some pictures I've been taking of students to the yearbook site. Are we still using tree ring?
For photoshop learning I want to learn to merge pictures using opacity as Kaile did last year. She never shared that tip with me, but I see it so much in the design world that I know I'll need it. I saw Dakota use what I'm talking about in the "Freedom?" piece he made, or his "Which Path" piece. How do I achieve that effect is what I want to learn this week.
-Healy Grant

I also learned how to get on Photobucket to upload those GIFs if that counts.

2. What is working well is that I got a chance to work on older techniques that I did not get a chance to work on as much as others. Next, I will like to work on taking images and putting them together to make a brand new image.

3. I learned a new way of doing a color splash edit.

4. For my next project I will learn and work on how to take different images and put them into one totally different picture and create something new.

I Really dig the fluidity and motion of some of the shots, it feels like the characters have real weight to them and the how they move also reflect their personalities. I would like to try a bit more full body animation in this style

For the "Love is Chemical" video; half of it is in live action and the characters are put on top of the footage to create this kind of mash up style. So when animating the characters I basically made it up as I went on, animating from point A to point B instead of drawing both A and B and animating in-between and it kinda made this organic limited animation style which fits the music rather well.

I really want to see what this looks like with the live action footage! I'll probably do it at the end of the day when I wrote this.
