Post  Admin on Tue Sep 07, 2010 9:05 pm

Donations for week ending Sep 6: $109.6

Collected: 20 pounds of cheese. (40 half pound blocks)

Retail value: $109.6 ($2.74*40)
Out of pocket cost: $6.68 (~17 cents per half pound block) (actually two dollars less because someone left a two dollar coupon in the register machine I used).

Total donations to date (retail value): $185.80
Out of pocket cost to date: $10.56

Here's a link to the blog where I will be tracking donations: http://aawfoodbank.wordpress.com/

And a couple of you asked about the websites I am using to find these deals. One of the best for Southeast Michigan is run by a local person, so the stores are all ones in our area: http://www.bargainstobounty.com/

Campbell’s cream of chicken and Spaghettios. Using the current sale at Meijer and online coupons, we can get 4 cans of soup and 4 cans of Spaghettios for a total cost of one dollar.

Print 2 coupons to save 50 cents on any two Campbell’s Condensed “Great for Cooking” Soups and 2 coupons to save 50 cents on any two Campbell’s SpaghettiOs pasta from this website: http://www.campbellskitchen.com/coupon.aspx

The cream of chicken soup is on sale this week for 75 cents a can. After the doubled coupon, it’s 50 cents for 2 cans. The spaghettios are on sale for 50 cents each, so with the doubled coupons they will be free.

Meijers will only double the first two identical coupons for each item, so the cost will go up if you buy more than 4 cans of each at once. Also, it might be good to get the regular original Spaghettios; I avoided getting the Disney princess shapes since it’s a foodbank for veterans.

I noticed the Meijer near our school (Utica and 15 mile) has boxes of cereal near the entrance, including Kelloggs FiberPlus Berry Yogurt Crunch - look for the boxes with the yellow TRY ME FREE on them. You can send in for a full rebate on one box of that. You can only get one rebate on it per household, so I'm not recommending we stock up on it for the food bank, but it's a nice bonus if you are in the store anyway.

As always, enjoy the good deals for your own groceries and please consider donating a portion to this project.
